Daisy belonged to a military man. Whenever she couldn't accompany him on a tour of duty, her heart ached. Her eyes kept constant vigil for the day he would return. This loyal dog knew nothing about war or the possibility her owner might not be coming home. It was the man's second time in Iraq. Sadly, in a tragedy that touches each and every one of us, he was killed.
Someone took in Daisy but not for long. There was talk of the person abandoning Daisy. We rushed to her aid. We did it for her sake and for the brave man who gave his life in service to his country.
